Went and saw this last night at the Arclight in Hollywood. It's part of the AFI's Uncensored Documentary Series. It was pretty interesting to see the man behind the madness.

Here's the description from AFI's website:

AFI's Uncensored Documentary Series

GONZOTUESDAY, JUNE 24, 8:00 p.m.
GONZO: THE LIFE AND WORK OF DR. HUNTER S. THOMPSON
DIR Alex Gibney NARRATED BY Johnny Depp FEATURING Jimmy Carter, Jimmy Buffet, George McGovern, Jann Wenner, Pat Buchanan, Ralph Steadman, Sonny Barger, Tom Wolfe

Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE, ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM), GONZO is the definitive film biography of a mythic American figure, a man that Tom Wolfe called our "greatest comic writer," whose suicide, by gunshot, led Rolling Stone Magazine, to devote an entire issue to the man who launched a thousand sips of bourbon, endless snorts of cocaine and a brash, irreverent, fearless style of journalism, named "gonzo" after an anarchic blues riff by James Booker.

Today, in a time, when spin has replaced the search for deeper meaning, Thompson remains an iconic crusader for truth, justice and a fiercely idealistic American way. Like Jack Kerouac's On the Road, his book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (and the movie made from it) remains a wanderlust myth for generation after generation of American youth. While Gibney shaped the screen story, every narrated word in the film springs from the typewriters of Thompson himself.

Q&A with Academy Awarding-winning producer Eva Orner (TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE), one of the film's producers, will immediately follow the screening.

From Kerry Park one fine chilly and drizzling morning in late May.

I'll be updating the photography section on my website soon.

Big thanks to all of the great people at Bungie! I had a great time up there and everybody I was working with were a great group of people. It was surprisingly sunny all of the days in Kirkland with some clouds mixed in, but the real Washington weather showed up once we went into Seattle.

I guess it's back to living at the beach here in Santa Monica....

It's SUNNY over here in Kirkland! I thought it would be raining the entire time. A lot of people out now enjoying the sunshine.

We must have brought some better weather from LA , but I know it can change any minute up here.

I'm pretty excited to be heading up to Washington State at the end of the month to be working with the best in the business and to be seeing some old colleagues.....

The creators of this guy:

I'll definitely be enjoying the immense variety of fresh seafood that Washington offers. I think it's going to be raining the entire time. What a complete contrast to living right next to the beach here in So Cal.
