I was watching the live stream from Beijing for the Mens 96k Greco tournament and Karam Gaber lost to Elis Guri of Albania in the 1/8 bracket!

Very, very close match, went to the 3rd round and Guri squeaked by Gaber by one point. I'm hoping Adam Wheeler from the US gets bronze since the rest of the US Greco guys are out of contention.

Hopefully the US freestyle team does much better.

I just saw some pretty nice ground technique from a Judoka from Montenegro....yes, LIVE and streaming from Beijing on nbcolympics.com!

Blue(Montenegro) judoka with arm triangle(choke) in place, escaping from half guard.

Blue in side mount, with arm triangle fully applied, White taps. Ippon for Blue!

I do wish that in sport judo nowadays that they did let the judokas show more ground work. There are so many opportunities for different submissions that the officials don't let develop. In the case above, Blue was trying to sweep White to expose the back and get points, but switched right away to the arm triangle.

Been watching all of the Judo matches on nbcolympics.com LIVE and streaming. It's really awesome that all of these events are so readily available.

One guy that's been impressive has been Masato Uchishiba in the Mens 66kg weight class. The Gold medal match was ended impressively. A lot of very nice transitions from dropping down into a sweep then seamlessly into an armlock for a quick verbal submission from France's Benjamin Darbelet.

The start of the sweep

Sweep completed

Armlock fully secured, Darbelet tapping...

Gold medalist!

Watching more judo and I'm pretty excited to see greco and freestyle wrestling. Especially Karam Ibrahim Garber from Egypt. That guy is a complete monster and probably the most exciting wrestler to watch in the past 4-5 years in greco. Gaber completely dominated everybody in his weight class en-route to a Gold at the 2004 Olympics. It was truly a sight to see. As much fun as watching the great Alexander Karelin wrestle back in the day.

I finished last Tuesday, dropped it off over in Hollywood at the gallery.

It's 20"x16", a combo of acrylic/casein on 100% duck cotton canvas and acid-free gesso underneath.

It's going to be a GREAT show, so come on out!

Prints are available! Email me for inquiries.
